April Showers Bring May Flowers?

Not this year! May flowers are in full bloom in April! What in the world will May bring? Since Spring started in January this year, our gardening timeline is all confused! However, it allows me more chances for beautiful photos. Especially since the rainy days have gone away and it’s nearly 70-degrees today! The fir tree has become a loft for the choral group that’s been singing away since before dawn and lots of little visitors have stopped by for a snack or a little dip.

This week the peonies bloomed and are going to become a bouquet with some of the lilacs! So a few minutes ago I grabbed the camera and went outside to catch a few shots. I hope you enjoy these!

My “Baby Girl” Kacey loves to soak up the sun and watch the birds that we encourage to visit us. She is such a thoughtful soul. Sometimes while watching her, it just makes me wonder what goes through her little mind. It’s almost like she’s in deep thought. She gives me some beautiful poses without ever trying. But they are difficult to catch because once she hears the snap and click of the camera, the moment is lost. I was quite lucky with this one….

One of our little friends who likes to stop by and take a snack with us! He’s such a singer, too. He even brought his lady friend one time and they both took a few moments on our deck. It was so fun to watch them and try to catch as many shots as I could!

These two little lovebirds were fun to watch while they picked through the seeds, scarfing down a tasty meal while I tried to stay as still as possible to capture this beautiful scene!

A wonderful bud beginning to open is just as beautiful as the full bloom! These are so fragrant and fill the air with their scent! And there are many buds! The reds are now coming in and will probably bloom in the next day or so. For now, it’s just the light pinks/white ones. I enjoy making bouquets to bring inside the house every year!

I just love peonies, don’t you? They are such beautiful flowers!

012

I love lilacs, don’t you? We have a large bush in the front and an even larger one in the back. Between the two, the competing scent of lilacs permeates the air and I cannot decide which scent I love most…peonies or lilacs!

Standing in the middle of the lilacs, bees were buzzing around me and then, this little surprise stopped by…

Little pockets of color are peeking through all over the place!

This must be the week for the pinks and purples!

I am a big fan of Georgia O’Keefe. Can you tell?

These little beauties are a groundcover that I just love.

Last season our rosebushes developed the black mold disease and I had to cut every one of them down to the ground. Thinking I had lost all 17, it was a pleasant surprise to see young sprouts peeking through the ground and this is what we have:

Tiptoe Through the Tulips

Smile! You’re on Jeffery Camera, it’s March 20, 2012!

We were married in April 2009 and for our honeymoon, we decided on a road trip that encompassed our nation’s Capital City, Washington, D.C., Richmond, Virginia, and Appomattox Court House. One of our first stops was in Charlottesville, Virginia. I’d always wanted to see Monticello, the home of our 3rd President, Thomas Jefferson. So, on the way to D.C., we stopped to see Mr. Jefferson’s home.

Our day was a rainy one. The fog sat heavily on the ground, hiding most of the views. Lucky for us, the rain let up for a while and we were able to walk the grounds of Monticello.  What a lovely place it is! I could almost imagine it all those years ago when Mr. Jefferson lived there!

Tulips are my favorite flower, which is why I chose a Spring wedding. I was able to carry them in my bouquet as well. Wouldn’t you know, walking around the grounds of Monticello I see beds and beds of beautiful flowers lining the walkways, including my wonderful tulips!

My super special new Hubby/ Hot Groom decided to take several photos of my favorite flower. As you will see, they turned out beautifully! We’ve begun framing our photography as art in our home. So, now we share them with you!

Enjoy while you tiptoe through the tulips…

Are these not just some of the most beautiful tulips ever? I’ve been to Europe and saw the beautiful tulips there, but I enjoyed these every bit as much, if not more! (Could it be that it was because I was on a vacation with the Love of my life?)

We didn’t mind the misty rain at all. As a matter of fact, I think it made our photos that much better!

There were some varieties of tulips that I’d never seen up close and in person. So this walk around the garden – where Thomas Jefferson once strolled – was particularly delightful for me!

I hope you enjoy these as much as I do. Every time I look at them my heart and soul is flooded with wonderful memories. And, I can almost smell them!

This is one of my favorite shots of Monticello. The mist hanging around it, just hugging it, while the tulips stand at attention drinking in every drop of the rain! Simply breathtaking!

I don’t know about you, but I could just “tiptoe through the tulips” all day! So, let’s keep strolling, okay?

Wishing you and yours a very Happy First Day of Spring! May your days be as beautiful our stroll!
